Birthdays

I was looking over my blog and realized that I had shared Devyn and Addie's birthdays, but did not share the other four. Which the other four celebrate their birthdays in a two month span. From June 18th until August 24 we have four birthdays. I will share starting with June, because they are pretty much in birth orde from June to August.

In May of 2006 we sold our first home. We were in dire need of a larger one since we had 5 children. The last week of May we were in the process of moving our belongings into storage and getting ready to remodel the home we were purchasing, when out of the clear blue-- the line appeared! I remember taking Michael breakfast that Monday morning after I had taken the kids to school and taking the test. He came out to the van and said " What's wrong", I looked at him and said, " I took a pregnancy test".. He just smiled and said "well you must be pregnant since you are telling me that you took the test" but then he said the sweetest thing that made all the difference. 'Honey, we have never been more prepared in our whole lives. It will be fine. God will take care of us." The LORD is with you, mighty warrior

I love the Old Testament. There are so many great lessons to be learned. Don't get me wrong, the New Testament is wonderful, but there is something that I enjoy about the old. I know the entire Bible leads right back to Jesus. One of my favorite stories from the Old Testament is the story of Gideon. The Israelites had been invaded by the Midianites and Amalekites for a while, due to their evil in the sight of the Lord. For seven years this went on, and seemed to have lost hope. They had to hide in mountain clefts and hide food. They finally cried out to the Lord for help. The Angel of the Lord came to Gideon and told him "The Lord is with you, mighty warrior" Gideon could not understand this since his tribe was the least and he was the smallest in his tribe. But the Lord equipped him and told him that he would be with him, not to be afraid. Gideon defeated the Midianites and the Amalekites with a small army, with the Lords help. God can equip any of us. The Blues

I am hitting a milestone and I don't like it. I am only 33, why do I feel so old? I think it is because I am facing the hard reality that my oldest will be 16 soon. Her and I have had our ups and downs, but what is awesome about her is that she talks to me. Devyn is a great kid. I could not ask for a better one. I just hope the other 5 follow in her footsteps. The problem is, she has set the bar HIGH. I am afraid that here on out I will be comparing the rest of them and secretly saying "why can't you be more like your sister". Devyn is more like me than she or myself want to admit. Extremely strong willed. She has no problem telling you her opinion or how she thinks something should be handled. She is a Christian, she professed the Lord at the age of 5. She amazes me, her walk with the Lord is evident. But I do pray that she will learn that a wise person doesn't always speak.
